Today’s guest is the multihyphenate and multi-talented Steve Truitt. Steve has led one of the most fascinating lives of anyone I’ve met. He’s been a television host, radio personality, author, life coach, and trainer but what sets Steve apart are the experiences he’s had along the way. From Landing an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger for his book, to making the Dalai Lama laugh while interviewing him, to meeting 5 of the 12 people that have walked on the moon, to reporting live from a helicopter during the LA riots, Steve’s stories are truly remarkable. Steve’s career in entertainment and journalism is only the beginning of what we discuss as We also dive into some of the challenges he’s faced. He opens up about his long and painful divorce, vulnerably shares his regret for passing up an opportunity to be a TV news anchor, and talks about his challenges with his father and trying to live up to his expectations. Steve shares how growing up with physical challenges as a child led to his quick wit and how his sense of humor has been a central theme throughout his life. He also shares how he almost became the host of American Idol. We discuss the concepts from his book, Stop Waiting for Permission, and how the theme he lays out has played a part in his own life. I’ve known Steve for years, having worked at Verengo Solar, SolarCity and Tesla together, but this conversation revealed stories even I haven’t heard before. I had such a fun experience interviewing him and I’m delighted to share his incredible life story on this episode of Insight Out.
