Tiffany Yu is on a mission to increase intersectional disability representation and democratize visibility. She’s a social impact entrepreneur, disability advocate, 3x TEDx speaker, and even spoke at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
At the age of 9, Tiffany became disabled as a result of a car accident that also took the life of her father.
For 12 years she hid her disability and until finally, she decided to embrace it as her superpower. She Founded Diversability, an award-winning social enterprise to amplify disabled voices.
She is also the host of Tiffany & Yu, the podcast.
She is a change agent focused on building and funding the things she wished existed when she was younger.
In this episode, we learn how she is helping to change the stigma surrounding disabilities by creating community and awareness. We also learn why disability origin stories are so powerful and why can hiding disability be harmful.
She shares her own personal story of facing chronic exclusion, and we learn about internalized toxic positivity and internalized ableism. If you are unaware or curious about the disability movement this show is insightful and enlightening.
