Today’s guest is Ted Vergis, a greentech executive with 10 years of experience in energy efficiency, storage, and solar. He has led high performing B2B and B2C teams which have transformed competitive landscapes and public policy. I met Ted at SolarCity where he was so amazing at leading teams they sent him all over the country to help build out markets thought the nation.
As strategic, smart, and analytical as he is compassionate, fun, and empathetic, Ted is that rare blend of leader that you don’t often see. On the show, he shares why the power of consistency has been such a central theme in his life, what calendar blocking advice he has borrowed from Warren Buffett, and what mental checklist he uses to identify strong leaders.
We also learn why he Immerses himself deeply into the technology of any company he joins, why building alliances with key leaders is so vital, and what he has learned about promoting the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Ted also lets us in on what special place he finds he is able to think more clearly thanks to zero distractions, why he avoids being emotionally distracted by things that are temporary, and why he has adopted the habit of whiteboarding to help keep him performing at an optimal level.
Early in the show, Ted shares a heartwarming story about a chance event in the ocean at the age of 16 that led him to save the lives of a young boy and his father, earning him a National Honor Medal, and giving him a lifelong reminder to constantly strive to reach his fullest potential. I absolutely loved this conversation and I’m so excited to share it with you so I hope you enjoy it and get value out of insights like these and others on this episode of Insight Out!
