This is Part 2 of my interview with Wei Tai Kwok, a climate leader that has been honored with the Green Ring Award, the highest honor given by Al Gore himself for the work he has done with The Climate Reality Project. I was there in person when he got this award and it was amazing to watch. In Part 1 we talked a lot about the climate crisis and what companies and individuals can do to do their part. In this episode, we talk more about leadership. Wei-Tai has entrepreneurial roots, having started and led a successful advertising agency for 20 years prior to becoming a green tech executive for giants like SunTech.
On the show we discuss…
- Categories he’s looking at for his next role to help the climate crisis
- Why vision casting is so important…especially for mission-driven organizations
- Why he believes a good leader creates upward mobility for their teams and is responsible not just for their performance, but also for their growth
- Why profitability is matters
- Insights gained from his fencing coach at Yale who coached for nearly 50 years (including coaching for the US Olympic Team) and gave his teams the courage and fearlessness to complete at a level they didn’t think was possible
